Healthy Snacks On The Go

Recently I have had a lot of emails with suggestions about healthy snack ideas and what snacks are good to eat on the go. Many of my clients are incredibly busy professionals with limited time so really need quick, easy and simple snack ideas to have at hand when they are at work.

Here are my top healthy snacks for on the go which will keep you satisfied, are super healthy and won't give you the huge sugar crash like you get from processed sugary snacks.

1. Fresh hummus with veggie sticks


Fresh hummus is really nutritious (as well as delicious!!). Chickpeas are full of protein, minerals and vitamins as well as assist with regenerating the nervous system, detoxing the body from sulphites and improving digestion! Fresh hummus with veggie sticks such as carrots or cucumber is a quick, easy and nutritious snack that helps you feel satisfied and energised.

2. Chia pudding


Chia seeds are nutrition powerhouses. These little seeds are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants and fibre. To save time, make your chia pudding at home the night before work and take it into the office with you. It is super easy to make and is full of health benefits!

Soak your chia seeds with oat milk, cinnamon, stevia and top with fresh fruit.

Cinnamon is great at balancing your blood sugar levels, reducing cravings and firing up your immune system!

3. Handful almonds


Almonds are loaded with health benefits. They contain high levels of Vitamin E, antioxidants, assist with balancing out blood sugar levels to reduce the mid-afternoon energy dip and can lower cholesterol. A handful of almonds is a great snack for when you are on the go.

4. Rice cake with avocado and sprouts


Avocados are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are high in fibre and great for your skin! Cutting up an avocado and either eating it alone or spreading it on some brown rice crackers and topping with sprouts is a great snack. These are packed with healthy goodness and will keep you feeling satisfied and energised until your next meal.

5. Sliced cucumber with squeeze lime and sprinkle chilli


Cucumber is so hydrating, full of antioxidants, lowers blood sugar levels and assists with digestion. Cutting up a cucumber, squeezing lime on top and sprinkling with chilli is a great snack to satisfy all your taste-buds, boost your metabolism and keep you feeling full and energised.

6. Green apple with 1 teaspoon almond butter and sprinkle of cinnamon


Green apples are high in Vitamin C and A, antioxidants, minerals and boost your metabolism. They have also been shown to fight ageing and improve skin health. Cutting up a green apple and eating it with a teaspoon of almond butter and cinnamon is a quick and easy snack that is great for either mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
