Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Autumn

Keep Your Skin Hydrated This Autumn

During autumn our skin tends to get dry, flaky and we break out more often. The cold, dry weather is not good for our skin and can leave us feeling down and not our best as we become self-conscious about the way our skin looks and feels.

Our lifestyle and diet has a huge impact on the way our skin looks, feels and ages! This is particularly important during autumn and winter.

Here are some tips to keep your skin hydrated and plump throughout autumn.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Extra virgin olive oil is a skin food. It literally feeds the skin from within as it contains high levels of healthy fats and antioxidants which nourish the skin. Drizzle olive oil on your meals to give your body an extra boost of healthy fats to assist with hydrating your skin.

Extra virgin olive oil is also an amazing natural moisturiser and I would recommend adding it to your current moisturising routine a few times per week for an added plumping boost- (just a few drops will suffice!)

Fatty Fish

Fatty fish such as salmon is great for hydrating your skin. Salmon contains a number of healthy fats which feed your skin and leave it feeling hydrated and plump. The omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon also have an array of health benefits as well as being great for your skin health.

Eating fatty fish such as salmon two times per week will allow you to reap the great benefits including feeding your skin.

Infused Water

Drinking water infused with cucumber is another brilliant way to get extra hydration into your body and your skin. Cut up a cucumber and put it in your water bottle/water jug and keep it in the fridge. Water infused with cucumber is a good way to ensure you are drinking enough water throughout the day as it tastes delicious and refreshing as well as being so beneficial to your health.

Home-made Face Mask

Home-made face masks are affordable, natural and nourishing for your skin. Using castor oil, fresh aloe vera gel or coconut oil are great ways to give your skin some love and extra hydration during winter. Put them on your skin and either leave on overnight or rinse off after 20 minutes and you will notice how smooth and soft your skin feels after.

Some of my other favourite natural skin products include jojoba oil, rosewater spray and olive oil as mentioned earlier.

Drink Warm Water

When we drink cold water our body has to work to heat the water up before it is fully absorbed. Drinking warm water is a quick and easy way for our body to quickly hydrate. Luke warm water also assists with digestion as it helps your body break down food and warm water also accelerates the removal of toxins.
